Provide help for our bats with our range of bat friendly roof tiles.
Did you know that all UK bats and their roosts are protected by law? The Wildlife and Countryside Act introduced in 1981, gave legal protection to all bat species and their roosts in England.
Distinct species of bats prefer differing places to roost. The two most usually found species of bat in the UK are the Pipistrelle and Brown Long-Eared Bat. Pipistrelle prefer confined spaces such as under tiles on roofs and hanging spaces. The Brown Long-Eared Bat prefer roof timbers and ridges inside lofts. Heritage Clay Tiles can provide purpose made access points within your roof tiles or ridge tiles. The Bat Tile Set can form part of a mitigation package required by law for existing roosts or as potential access where a roost had not previously been present.

Before the creation of the modern day County Councils, county level administration was limited in nature, Lord-Lieutenants replaced the Sheriffs from the time of Henry VIII and took a primarily military role, responsible for the militia and the Volunteer Force that replaced it. To this day, Essex and other counties have Lord Lieutenants, although today they perform ceremonial duties at events such as openings of new municipal buildings and award ceremonies for good causes and police attestation ceremonies.
Most administration was carried out by Justices of the Peace, who were appointed by the Lord-Lieutenant of Essex based upon their reputation within the local community. The Justices carried out judicial and administrative duties such as maintenance of roads and bridges, supervision of the poor laws, administration of county prisons and setting the County Rate. Justices carried out these responsibilities, mainly through quarter sessions, and did this on a voluntary basis. Today Justices of the Peace still perform a legal and unpaid role, although expenses are reimbursed.
So if you live, work or own a business in or around the Essex area, give Heritage Clay Tiles Ltd a call for the widest choice of clay roof tiles you could find on the market.
