Did you know that all UK bats and their roosts are protected by law? The Wildlife and Countryside Act introduced in 1981, gave legal protection to all bat species and their roosts in England.
Distinct species of bats prefer differing places to roost. The two most usually found species of bat in the UK are the Pipistrelle and Brown Long-Eared Bat. Pipistrelle prefer confined spaces such as under tiles on roofs and hanging spaces. The Brown Long-Eared Bat prefer roof timbers and ridges inside lofts. Heritage Clay Tiles can provide purpose made access points within your roof tiles or ridge tiles. The Bat Tile Set can form part of a mitigation package required by law for existing roosts or as potential access where a roost had not previously been present.

A little information about Berkshire
The ghosts of Windsor Castle in Berkshire
Windsor Castle in Berkshire is world famous for being one of the official, and most popular royal residences with successive monarchs, so it may surprise you to know that such a popular royal residence is also known to be one of the most haunted places in Berkshire as well! This impressive and imposing Berkshire property was built by William the Conqueror in 1066 and at the time it was a timber motte and bailey style structure. Over the years the castle has been renovated and expanded to become the building that we all know today.
Having stood on this Berkshire site for more than one thousand years, it really comes as no great surprise that Windsor Castle has its fair share of Berkshire ghosts reported to be in residence! There has been a good deal of deaths in the Berkshire castle. In fact, the deaths have been of both royals and commoners within the building and its grounds.
There have been numerous reports of spooky goings on that have been attributed to these poor unfortunates. Perhaps the most prolific ghost associated with Windsor Castle in Berkshire would be the infamous and some may argue, tyrannical Henry VIII. The Tudor King was hated for dissolving monasteries and breaking with the Catholic church to establish the Church of England. He also had two of his six wives executed, one with a sword and one with an axe. Staff and visitors to the Berkshire castle alike have described seeing the King in the cloisters or else wandering the corridors, limping heavily on his ulcerated leg.
King Henry VIII is not the only one to haunt Windsor Castle in Berkshire. There have also been a few suggestions that perhaps the ghost of Anne Boleyn also haunts the property. Anne was one of Henry VIII many wives and she was executed in 1536 for the crimes of witchcraft, treason, and adultery, all trumped up charges so that Henry could get rid of her and marry his new love interest. Her spirit has been reported in the cloisters where she sits at the window weeping. Anne was executed at Tower Green in London, but her body was buried in the chapel at the Berkshire castle.
Other spirits that are said to haunt the castle include King George III, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth I as well as a number of unknown ghosts who were not royals! The most active spots in Windsor Castle are said to be the Deanery, the Prison Room, the Curfew Tower and of course, St. George's Castle.
