Did you know that all UK bats and their roosts are protected by law? The Wildlife and Countryside Act introduced in 1981, gave legal protection to all bat species and their roosts in England.

Distinct species of bats prefer differing places to roost. The two most usually found species of bat in the UK are the Pipistrelle and Brown Long-Eared Bat. Pipistrelle prefer confined spaces such as under tiles on roofs and hanging spaces. The Brown Long-Eared Bat prefer roof timbers and ridges inside lofts. Heritage Clay Tiles can provide purpose made access points within your roof tiles or ridge tiles. The Bat Tile Set can form part of a mitigation package required by law for existing roosts or as potential access where a roost had not previously been present.

High Quality Roof Tiles

Why choose high quality roof tiles from Heritage Clay Tiles Ltd?

As a proud homeowner, you know the importance of having a roof that looks good and is designed to protect your home from any weather conditions. Your home is the most expensive thing anyone is realistically likely to buy, so you'll want it to look its best. But have you ever considered what roof tiles are best for your house?

The answer is not that straight forward. The different styles and types of roof tiles can be mind boggling, the local restrictions may cause you a few headaches too, but one thing remains constant when it comes to roof tiles, the quality! Always, always invest in high quality roof tiles, as doing anything less, will cost you more in the long term.

Tiled roofs are still the most popular

A tile roof is simply a roofing system comprised of individual tiles, typically made from clay, concrete, or slate. Each tile is laid in an overlapping pattern, creating a protective layer that helps to keep out water and other elements. We have been using roof tiles for many hundreds of years and the quality does vary. A high quality roof tile will have an impressive lifespan and be very durable, cheaper ones tend to fail within a shorter space of time, costing the homeowner more money owing to repairs and replacements.

Also, high quality roof tiles can withstand extreme weather conditions, including high winds, heavy rain, and hail. In addition, high quality roof tiles are fire-resistant and provide excellent insulation, which can help to lower energy costs.

You can obtain high quality roof tiles in many different styles, colours, and materials, making them a very popular choice for homeowners who want to enhance the look and maybe the curb appeal of their homes. They can be designed to complement any architectural style, from traditional to modern, adding value to any property.

Durability of high quality roof tiles from Heritage Clay Tiles Ltd

High quality roof tiles are known for their durability and long lifespan. Many roof tiles, such as clay and slate, can last well over fifty years with the proper installation and maintenance.

High quality roof tiles are energy efficient

High quality roof tiles can help reduce your energy costs by providing a natural insulation and reflecting sunlight. This can help keep your home cooler in the summer and much warmer in the winter.

High quality roof tiles from Heritage Clay Tiles Ltd always look great

High quality roof tiles offer a timeless, classic look that will never go out of style. A roof that has been clad in high quality roof tiles will also boost the overall value of the property too. A well cared for home will always have greater curb appeal than ones that have cheap roofing materials and have a neglected look.

High quality roof tiles are fire resistant

Many roof tiles, such as clay and concrete, are fire-resistant. This can help protect your home from fires. Remember that high quality roof tiles are better made and more robust, so are more likely to repel wayward fireworks that could damage or penetrate cheaper, weaker roof tiles.

High quality roof tiles from Heritage Clay Tiles Ltd are low maintenance

High quality roof tiles require very little maintenance compared to other roofing materials. Roof tiles are resistant to rot, insects, and different types of damage and can be easily replaced if the odd one becomes damaged.

What type of high quality roof tiles to buy?

High quality roof tiles made from clay have been used for many centuries owing to their durability and versatility. They are made from natural clay shaped and fired at high temperatures, these tiles are known for their ability to withstand harsh weather conditions and resist damage over time. From classic red terracotta to modern grey slate, clay tiles can add warmth and character to any property.

High quality roof tiles made from slate are not cheap, but are sought out by contractors for their supreme durability, versatility, and natural beauty. With their excellent resistance to water and other weather extremes, high quality roof tiles made from slate are a great roofing material. Factor in the variation in colour and texture among slate tiles, and you have a totally unique installation. When properly installed and maintained, high quality roof tiles made from slate can last for many years, making them a great investment for any renovation or construction project.

There are also concrete tiles available, but these are generally reserved for commercial properties due to their durability, affordability, and ease of installation. They are sometimes used on domestic properties, but they are not as aesthetically appealing as the high quality roof tiles made from slate or clay.

Be on the safe side and choose high quality roof tiles to ensure you enjoy many years of trouble free service from a robust roof with a long lifespan.

A little information about Cambridgeshire

The University of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

The University of Cambridge is a collegiate research university in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Founded in 1209 and granted a royal charter by Henry III in 1231, Cambridge is the second oldest university in the English speaking world and the worlds fourth oldest surviving university.

The Cambridgeshire university grew out of an association of scholars who left the University of Oxford after a dispute with the local population. The two English ancient universities share many common features and are often jointly referred to as Oxbridge.

Cambridge is formed from a variety of institutions which include thirty one semi autonomous constituent colleges and over one hundred and fifty academic departments, faculties and other institutions organised into six schools. All the colleges are self governing institutions within the historic Cambridgeshire university, each controlling its own membership and with its own internal structure and activities.

All students at the Cambridgeshire based university are members of a college. The university does not have a main campus, and its colleges and central facilities are scattered throughout the city of Cambridge. Undergraduate teaching at Cambridge centres on weekly small group supervisions in the colleges in groups of typically one to four students. This intensive method of teaching is widely considered the most important part of an Oxbridge undergraduate education, a practice that sets the universities apart from all others.

In addition, lectures, seminars, laboratory work and occasionally further supervisions are provided by the central university faculties and departments. Postgraduate teaching is provided predominantly centrally.

Cambridge University Press and Assessment combines the oldest and second largest university press in the world with one of the worlds leading examining bodies, which provides assessment to over eight million learners globally every year. The university also operates eight cultural and scientific museums, including the Fitzwilliam Museum, as well as a botanic garden. Cambridges libraries, of which there are over one hundred, hold a total of around sixteen million books, around nine million of which are in Cambridge University Library itself, a legal deposit library.

High tech Cambridgeshire business and the university

The Cambridgeshire based university is home to, but independent of, the Cambridge Union, which is the worlds oldest debating society. The university is closely linked to the development of the high tech business cluster known as the Silicon Fen, so called as it sits within the fenland district of Cambridgeshire. It is the central member of Cambridge University Health Partners, an academic health science centre based around the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

By endowment size, Cambridge is without doubt the wealthiest university in all of Europe. In 2019, the central university, excluding colleges, had a total income of £2.192 billion, of which £592.4 million was from research grants and contracts. At the end of the same financial year, the central university and colleges together possessed a combined endowment of over £7.1 billion and overall consolidated net assets of over £12.5 billion.

The Cambridgeshire university with an enviable academic alumni

As a member of numerous associations and part of the golden triangle of English universities, the Cambridgeshire university has educated many notable alumni, including respected mathematicians, scientists, politicians, lawyers, philosophers, writers and actors. As of October 2020, one hundred and twenty one Nobel laureates, eleven Fields Medalists, seven Turing Award winners, forty seven heads of state, and fourteen British prime ministers have been affiliated with Cambridge as students, alumni, faculty or research staff. As of 2016, University alumni had won one hundred and ninety four Olympic medals.
