Clayhall roof tiles gives you curb appeal

Many home owners spend thousands of pounds on landscaping their gardens, having extensions built, conservatories added, or at the very least, new replacement double glazed windows, but what about the roof?

The reality is that very few people consider their roof until the unthinkable happens. A leak from a cracked or missing roof tiles can wreak havoc on the interior of the property, as well as looking pretty tatty too. They leave the roof tiles to take care of themselves and this can prove a very costly mistake.

The simple truth is that prospective buyers will pay close attention to the integrity of the roof and the roof tiles, because they appreciate how expensive a repair of replacement would be further down the line. Surveyors will also be looking out for any damage to roof tiles too, so don't get caught out, potentially missing out on a sale, or losing thousands from the value of your home.

Clayhall roof tiles are manufactured with traditional methods to stand up to the very worst the British weather can throw at them. Not only are Clayhall roof tiles very durable, they are amazing to look at too. Clayhall roof tiles hold their colour and texture beautifully, with their patina only seeming to improve with age.

Don't forget that Clayhall roof tiles come with a standard fifty year guarantee, but in reality will last far longer. In short, Clayhall roof tiles are a worthwhile investment to increase the curb appeal and value of your property.

A little information about Suffolk

Historic finds in Suffolk

The county of Suffolk is renowned for archaeological finds from the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age. Bronze Age artefacts have been found in the area between the Suffolk towns of Mildenhall and West Row, in Eriswell and in Lakenheath. Many bronze objects, such as swords, spearheads, arrows, axes, palstaves, knives, daggers, rapiers, armour and fragments of sheet bronze, are entrusted to St. Edmundsbury heritage service, housed at West Stow just outside Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk. Other finds include traces of cremations and barrows.

In the east of Suffolk is Sutton Hoo, the site of one of England's most significant Anglo-Saxon archaeological finds, a ship burial containing a collection of treasures including a sword of state, helmet, gold and silver bowls, jewellery and a lyre.

In 1992 a famous hoard of late Roman gold and silver was discovered in the Suffolk village of Hoxne. It is still the largest hoard of its kind to have been discovered in Britain.

While carrying out surveys before installing a pipeline in 2014, archaeologists for Anglian Water discovered nine skeletons and four cremation pits, at Bardwell, Barnham, Pakenham and Rougham, all near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman and medieval items were also unearthed, along with the nine skeletons believed to be of the late or post-Roman era. Experts claimed that the five month project had recovered enough

Artefacts to fill half a shipping container, and that the discoveries had shed new light on their understanding of the development of small rural communities.

A number of sixth century Anglo-Saxon "grub huts" were also found nearby, which are believed to be cellars beneath Saxon buildings.

A grisly find in Suffolk

In 2019, an excavation of a fourth century Roman cemetery in Great Whelnetham uncovered something quite unusual. Fifty two skeletons were found, what was strange was that a large number of them had been decapitated, which archaeologists claimed gave new insight in to Roman traditions. The burial ground includes the remains of men, women and children who probably lived in a nearby settlement. The fact that getting on for half of the bodies were decapitated had the experts pondering why such a practice had been adopted for these bodies.

The Romans left their mark on Suffolk

A survey in 2020 named Suffolk as the third best place in the UK for aspiring archaeologists, and showed that the area was especially rich in finds from the Roman period, with over 1500 objects found in the preceding year.

In July 2020, a man with a metal detector found 1061 silver hammered coins estimated to be worth £100,000 in Ipswich. The coins dated back to the 15th-17th century, according to experts.

In September 2020, archaeologists announced the discovery of an Anglo-Saxon cemetery with seventeen cremations and one hundred and ninety one burials dating back to the 7th century in Oulton, near Lowestoft. The graves contained the remains of men, women and children, as well as artefacts including small iron knives and silver pennies, wrist clasps, strings of amber and glass beads. According to the expert who carried out the excavations, the skeletons had mostly vanished because of the highly acidic soil. They, fortunately, were preserved as brittle shapes and "sand silhouettes" in the sand.
